We can provide structured, formal training with our national Navigation Award training and assessment weekends, or can tailor something less formal for you and your friends or family.
We can also run small events online using zoom, to introduce you to the basics navigation and safely enjoying the outdoors.
For more information about the NNAS Bronze and Silver Awards please visit the NNAS website: https://nnas.org.uk/
The NNAS is a national scheme that focuses on developing personal skills and performance without being competitive. It is not a leadership award but does cover aspects of route planning, safety, emergency procedures and access legislation, rights and responsibilities. Participants receive national accreditation with a certificate from the NNAS on successful completion.
Our NNAS courses will take place almost weekly during the winter months and usually on weekends. Courses will be slightly less frequent during the summer. If we do identify a need for midweek courses we would of course, run them. The Covid 19 pandemic has clearly had an impact on all outdoor activities. We are unable to run NNAS courses during the current national restrictions. When this changes, new dates will immediately be published here
The next courses available are:
Aimed at teachers and more experienced hill walkers, the course should be seen as a requirement for those wishing to manage expeditions in non remote lowland or moorland areas. This course is particularly suitable for those wanting to lead Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions at Bronze or Silver levels.
